Literacy
Today we finished reading "Shin-chi's Canoe". Tomorrow you will formulate a main idea answer from your stick notes with your group. Remember to use our shared answer as a guide.

Because of the PD Day on Friday, we will be having our word test on Monday. Practice exercises are also due Monday.

Math
The problem today in math made you think...... When we are constructing polygons with certain size angles, the angles are INSIDE  the polygon.

Try this:
Construct an irregular decagon  If you forget what a decagon is, watch the video link below. Identify the angles inside the polygon as:

  • greater than 0 degrees but less than half a right angle
  • half a right angle
  • greater than half a right but less than a right angle
  • a right angle
  • greater than a right angle, less than a straight angle
Example:
Are there any angles that don't fit into the categories above?

All you need to do this is a benchmark angle paper. Take a regular sheet of white paper and fold it on the diagonal. All three of your benchmark angles are there.

Please complete the angle sheets (pages 150 - 154). All you need is a benchmark angle paper.

Science
Today we talked about bird beak adaptations. The different types of beats are amazing! Which beak was like a hook.... pliers.... nutcracker....chisel?

To complete the worksheet, go onto the website below. You don't have to copy everything, just the most important idea (how the beak is used)

Move the mouse/cursor over the bird and the information on each beak appears.

When you are doing the adaptations of one animal in your chosen habitat for your slide show, make sure the animal is in the middle of the slide and your are labeling structural and behavioral adaptations. Example:
Some of you are learning how to do some very clever animations and transitions.

Learning Skills
This week we are supposed to be practicing SELF-REGULATION. Some students are having difficulty with this learning skill, particularly during transitions. Remember to show good manners.
Reminders:
  • Off-uniform day tomorrow
  • Halloween Family Dance tomorrow evening
