Today we finished our connection to "Where the Big Fish Are". Your connection should have three parts:
- the part of the text you are connecting with
- your connection
- explanation of your connection including your emotions
For example:
When I read, "Hey, it floats!" Bill hollers. He's so excited he does a little dance, it reminded me of when I tried to construct a Rube Goldberg device to show students. I tried to get the marble to travel from one place to another and it kept on stopping for flying out. Finally it worked and the marble ended up on the tee. I felt very proud of my determination and my ability to construct the device because I'm not a very handy person. So I imagine that's the way Bill felt, overjoyed that he accomplished what he set out to do, build a raft.
Please make sure you complete your word sorts tonight and puttthe words in alphabetical order. Be neat! Three students left their word study duo-tangs at school today....
If you haven't shared your Power Point with me, make sure you do so before Wednesday. On Wednesday we will practice presenting to a partner then we should be ready to go!
Math
We ran out of time at the end of the day to complete the math assignment. I have left an example for you at the back of the class. Many of you made a square which isn't really difficult to construct. Make sure you challenge yourself. You will finish with the supply teacher tomorrow. Instead of the next assignment, we will be working with Tangrams tomorrow.
Remembrance Day
Today we wrote postcards and mailed them to different veterans around London and abroad. Make sure you understand the correct letter format. Many of you did not understand how to ORGANIZE a letter. Look at the anchor chart below. You should know what the heading, greeting, body, closing and signature are on a letter.
