Today we started our discussion on how habitats change. Some natural ways that habits change include:
Seasonal changes
Catastrophic changes (hurricanes, forest fires, mudslides etc.) Can you think of any others?
Over long periods of time
We began today with changes that occur over long periods of time. Tomorrow you will meet with all the other members that wrote the changes for one of the pictures on page 29. This is called jigsaw. After you will return to your group with more wonderful ideas and complete the handouts.
Math
We reviewed describing angles using our three benchmark angles. This concept was a little tricky for some of you. Please practice using your green benchmark angles to complete your homework in your yellow math notebook.
Students who would like extra support completing homework are welcome to stay in at lunch recess for 20 minutes.
Please make sure to get your homework signed.
Literacy
"What a Story" we read today! We talked about two reading strategies today:
- Making connections (personal)
- Asking questions (green)
We will review how to write a "good" connection tomorrow.
Some of you have to work on writing "green" knowledge-based questions. They begin with...who, what, where, when...
When you ask yourself these questions while you read, you are making sure you understand what is going on in the story.
