Science
Today we observed a chemical change. What were the two reactants? What was the new product formed? Make sure you complete "Interpret Your Results" . There are a few conclusions you have to make on page 28.

Tomorrow we will do several more examples of chemical changes. Then we are just about done the unit. Your last assignment will be to build a volcano. Stay tune...

Math
So far in our Data Management unit we have gathered primary data. We have rolled dice and linked paper clips and elastics. Today we gathered statistics on professional athletes and teams. This is secondary data because it came from someone else. Tomorrow we will finish our stem and leaf plots and double bar graphs on the computer. You must include three observations (five was too many) comparing the teams. For example:
Observations:
Both the Raptors and the Celtics had 2 players that scored between 15 and 20 points per game.
Only the Raptors had a player that scored over 20 points a game.
The Celtics had more players than the Raptors that scored under 5 points a game.

Make sure you think of a good survey question for tomorrow!

The class decided on Thursday and Friday for our multiplication and division tests. Please look at the weekend post for the types of questions for the first test. I will post the questions on the second test tomorrow.

Social Studies
Today we began our last Social Studies units for the year. The grade fours will be studying Early Societies and the grade fives will be studying First Nations People. There is no test for these units. You will have small assignments every other day and a research / project at the end (after we finish our Genius Hour Projects of course).

Reminders:
  • Please be prepared to practice for Track and Field daily (gym clothes and running shoes at school).
  • Bring indoor shoes!
