Math
Today we practiced estimating sums and differences. Remember the key words that tell you whether to add or subtract.

Here is a review of rounding "rules" (rounding rap):

Remember as long as you can explain your reasoning, there are many possible estimates. For example, estimate the difference between 867 and 239.
You could estimate by rounding this way: 900 - 200 = 700 or
you could also estimate by rounding this way:  850 - 250 = 600
When you estimate you make friendly numbers (numbers that are easy to add or subtract in your head).

Gymnastics
We had a very entertaining afternoon watching gymnastics routines. Congratulations to all team members. Everyone performed magnificently. I will be with the team at the gymnastics meet tomorrow. You will be assigned to a class for most of the morning and part of the afternoon. Assignments to work on:
  • Bell work
  • Olympics scrapbook
  • Pop art
  • Social Studies mind map
  • Read quietly
Remember you are guests in another class. Ask the teacher if he or she needs any help if you do not understand a task you were given.

Reminders
  • Gymnastics team members please come to school with your green shirt ready to participate. You may wear sweatpants / sweatshirt etc. over top of your gym clothes. Don't forget your shorts / tights that your team is wearing.
