Most students have completed their biographies. I will be making comments over the next few days. Remember for your newspaper article, you must have SPECIFIC details about athletes or events. For example if you are commenting on the gold medal finish of a ski racer, include the time and how much he or she won over the silver medalist. Many of you are just writing the athlete and not including details. You need to sensationalize the accomplishment of your country and its athletes. Follow the example on the bulletin board.
Math
Make sure you complete #3 from yesterday's action task. We went through one on the board and you should have the steps in your notebook.
Today's action task fits nicely into Lent. You need to go on-line to Tepperman's, The Brick, Leon's or any other furniture store. Your budget is $15 000. Ignore the cents and make sure you buy the family everything they need. Beds need mattresses. Assume it is a family of at least 4 (mom, dad, two children). You don't need to do it three ways, but try to do it two different ways using similar items that have different costs.
Most of you are used to adding from right to left. Show your parents how you can add from left to right. Don't forget to estimate. When you find the actual sum, a running total is easier.
Science
Lots of concepts today. We will continue tomorrow. Make sure you understand the difference between mass, capacity and volume and the units used with each measurement.
Take a look at home.....What unit is used to measure....
- toothpaste
- laundry detergent
- milk
- cereal
- size of your refrigerator (if you can find it... look in your flyers)
Reminders
- Mind map and scrapbook due Friday
