Literacy
Today we continued writing dialogue. Remember that the dialogue must tell the story. The words of the character must tell the reader what is going on. You must have a speech tag (said word) to identify the speaker, but you can also have some narrative.

Religion
We read the first Easter story together and watched the video. We will complete our summaries of the story tomorrow using the 5Ws.... Who? Where? When? What happened?

Next week we will learn about the second Easter story. Do you know what it's about? Look at the picture below:

Science
Today we conducted our investigation of ABSORBENCY. Most groups conducted a FAIR test. Tomorrow we will look at our results and make some CONCLUSIONS and/or recommendations. We will also be designing our insulating devices. Please bring in any materials that you think would make a good insulator. Your challenge is to keep a cup of hot water as warm as possible for 15 minutes. We probably will not be building the device, just designing it. In order to design it, you must have your materials.
Some materials around the house that might be good insulators
  • newspaper
  • cotton balls
  • woolen mitts, socks
  • aluminium foil
  • plastic
  • Styrofoam
  • cloth
  • paper towels
Math
LEARN YOUR MULTIPLICATION FACTS.
Everyone knows how to show multiplication different ways. You must stop skip counting and using repeated addition. It is slow. Starting tomorrow I will be handing out practice sheets. Next week we will be having quizzes each day.

Both grades discussed key multiplication phrases. If you can write a multiplication word problem, then you can solve a multiplication problem. Please complete # 1 - 3 for homework.

Grade 5 we talked about multi-digit multiplication. Use you multiplication chart/table if you do not know your facts. Don't skip count!!! Here are some questions to practice the algorithm.

You don't have to do all of them tonight! Finish your Mathletics assignments!
