Image result for happy sunday summer
It sure feels like summer! Stay cool today and drink plenty of fluids.

Math
We will do a bit of review for Data Management this week. We will review broken line graphs and talk a bit about how to find information from a circle graph. We have already studied line graphs in Science and Social Studies so it shouldn't take very long.  Friday would be the best day for a test.
Grade 4:

  • Stem and leaf Plots
  • Double bar graphs
  • Organizing data into tables
  • Range, mode and median
  • Making observations / conclusions / comparisons about data

Grade 5

  • Double bar graphs
  • Broken Line graphs
  • Organizing data into tables
  • Range, mean, mode, median
  • Making observations / conclusions / comparisons about data including circle graphs

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you  COMPLETE YOUR HOMEWORK on  MATHLETICS. It is a good REVIEW for the TEST.

Social Studies
One of our focus this term is informational (non-fiction) writing. The text form we are practicing in Social Studies is comparing and contrasting. We wrote an example in class (comparing the physical features of Ancient Rome and Judea).

We will wrap up our discussion of natural resources in Ancient Rome and Judea on Monday and begin talking about the role of the different family members on Wednesday.
In grade 5 you will be given time to complete your mind map and you will be asked to compare / contrast the Wendat and Innu First Nations communities.

There will be no test in Social Studies this term. Assessment will be based on assignments. Keep up!

Word Study
Your work study test will be on MONDAY. See post on Wednesday, May 16th for words.

Genius Hour
You will be given 80 minutes on Wednesday and Thursday and half a day on Friday to complete your project. No extra time will be given after this week. You are more than welcome to stay after school this week (except Tuesday). We will be presenting our projects to the class starting on June 4th. At the end of the week (June 7th), your projects will be on display to share with other classes.

Health
Keep thinking about questions for your game show assignment (short and long term effects of smoking for grade 4 and alcohol for grade 5).

This is one link to a video we watched about alcohol. The others are on the right hand side of the link.
