On Friday we gathered data to graph the temperature during a change of state. Unfortunately, the ice was too cold, it took a long time to melt. The warm water wasn't warm enough to melt the ice! On Monday, we will still graph our data using a BROKEN LINE GRAPH. The last topic in this unit is chemical changes. We will see how much we can get done.... it's a busy but very exciting week!
What is the difference between a physical and chemical change? In a physical change, the type of matter (molecules that make up matter) are the same. They may be further apart or closer together, but they are still the same molecules. In a chemical change, the atoms rearrange to form new molecules and the change is IRREVERSIBLE. These are signs of chemical changes:

We will begin Data Management this week. We have already constructed and drawn conclusions from many tables and graphs in Social Studies and Science. It will be a fairly short unit, with most of the graphs and surveying done at school.
